Dear Kindergarten Families,
An amazing day we had on Friday’s Parent Day! Thank all of you for coming and learning with us!
This week ahead will be exciting as we celebrate Catholic School’s Week. Wednesday is Student Appreciation Day. We appreciate your students with a free – free dress and a hamburger lunch – thank you to Mrs. Benner! If your child does not care for hamburgers – please pack a lunch for them on Wednesday.
Valentine’s Day is coming soon. We will have an exchange of Valentines on Tuesday, February 14. If you child wants to write names on all Valentines, will attach a list of names below. I suggest having your child just write their name, it is easier when handing them out. Candy can be included on cards, if desired. We are not having a party as we did on Christmas, but a fun day exchanging cards with our friends and a cookie treat. In class, we will make cards for 4th and 5th grade students. Please no presents/candy for our buddies, if you want to do that – it has to be outside of school to be fair to all students.
Academics:
Our faith focus: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service will be our working focus for this week. Our discussion questions: How can help others in the community? Can think of ways we use our faith and knowledge and examples we learn from Jesus to serve others?
ELA- following the same basic pattern with Reading/Writing workshop; Words their Way for phonics, print practice and sight word practice and spelling. Basic phonics work will be with beginning/ending consonants and vowel sounds.
Math-continue counting on the number line, number grid, teen numbers and higher double digit numbers, printing numbers for correct formation, and number stories with objects.
Science – focus on our 5 senses and arctic animals, we will be doing simple writings/drawings to add to our school fair project.
Social studies- a bit of mapping – starting with our classroom, then a map of their bedroom.
Here are a few things to mention in closing:
Friday is a full day of school. We will be going to the library this week. Look for the February service hour calendar coming out tomorrow. Primary Centers is also coming soon, February 10.
