Dear Families,

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a restful vacation.  We have a busy schedule this week in 5th grade.  Below is an overview of our week.

Math: We are practiceing solving division number stories and interpreting remainders.  We continue to work on making magnitude estimations.  Our IXL sections this week are H.3 and H.4.  We will be having our Unit 4 test next Monday.

Social Studies:  We will begin chapter 5.  We will be analyzing Spain’s reasons for building presidios along the borderlands.

Science:  We will be discussing how water should be conserved in order to make fresh water supplies last longer.  We will be having our Chapter 4 test next Tuesday.

ELA: This week we are starting Unit 3, “Clues to a Culture”.

Grammar:  We are working on main verbs and helping verbs.

Vocabulary:  Unit 5

Religion:  Chapter 11, We Are Sent to Love and Serve.
