We have a fun week ahead! Reading each day whole group together, in partners, and sometimes by flashlight!

On Wednesday your child can dress like a storybook character! Have your child bring in their favorite book, to share with us!

During Lent we continue to discuss ways to help others and do our best each day. Bible story and our Promise lessons come from the Prodigal Son. If your schedule allows, please join us for Stations of the Cross on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00.

Phonics workshop continues with beginning sounds and blends, digraphs, short vowels and word families, ut, un, and ug. Practice sounds as you read together each night. Nouns! We are learning how articles are like a flag signaling a noun is coming!! Today we worked on articles ‘a’ and ‘an’. Reading workshop strategies teach us to try to read hard words by looking at beginning and ending sounds. Looking for clues in the pictures! Writing and using a selection of sight words we know, have on a list and with a prompt. Sentence punctuation is work in progress –

Math finds us working hard on the number grid to solve addition and subtraction problems of ten more and ten less. More practice measuring and counting coins. Use change at home to help your child understand the value of penny, nickel, dime and quarter.

Science – time to start with our 5 senses. Thursday lab on sense of touch. Season of spring, baby animals and changes with weather will continue though April.

This Friday is a noon dismissal – note the change for next Friday, April 8 – it is a 12 o’clock dismissal as well.

I really enjoyed seeing families for our Showcase! It was the perfect weather to show off our garden, art and crafts! I hope those sunflowers made it through the rain!

Blessings,

Mrs. Brown
