Dear Fifth Grade Families,

Monday is the first day of the third trimester.  Time is going by so fast.  This is a busy week for our fifth grade class.  On Tuesday we will have an assembly to announce to winner of the Palmisano writing contest.  Wednesday is a free dress day for a donation of $1.00.  The monies raised will be donated to the St. Baldrick Foundation.

Every night your child should be reviewing their Social Studies and Science notes.   By Friday every student needs to have completed three Acc math packets.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. My email address is fifthgrade@sacredheartschoolventura.org. Please make sure that all students have their needed supplies everyday (paper, pencils, binders and flash drives).

Below is an overview of our week.

Math:  We will begin Chapter 9. Our focus this week will be multiplying whole numbers and decimals.

Science :  We will be learning about acids, bases, and salts being classes of compounds. Our Chapter 9 test will be next Tuesday.

Social Studies: We will be analyzing the success of the Committees of Correspondence.  We will also learn about the reasons why colonists united to protest the British.

English: We will be reviewing the use of pronouns.  This will include subject and object pronouns.

Religion:  We are focusing on the Four Marks of the Church.

Spelling: Unit 23.  We will have our  pre test on Thursday and our test on Friday.

Vocabulary: Unit 11

Literature: House of Dies Drear.

Thank you

Ms. Carney
