Joganthon was a success! Thank all of you who were able to attend, enjoy the day, and contribute to our school. The In-N-Out truck will be here on Friday! Come have lunch with your student(s). Please note Tuesday is the deadline to pre-order for this event.

Friday is a full day of school, with an assembly and school families in the afternoon.

You are invited to the Parish Picnic on Monday, May 27 from 2:00 to 6:00. The Knights of Columbus will provide hamburgers and hot dogs. Please bring a side dish to share.

A peek at our week:

During the month of May, we honor Mary. From our text we will learn to celebrate God’s gifts as being a sign of great love.

Language arts – we are doing great with the Words their Way program. For another week we will continue to work on beginning sounds, word families, digraphs and blends. Writing Workshop – how to make the world a better place is our topic. Reading leveled passages and booklets with emphasis on comprehension. Using our sound power for difficult words and noting sight words as we read. Keep up the sight word practice – we are doing well in that area, too!

Math – telling time to the hour; including elapsed time, which is a difficult concept. Work with this at home if an opportunity presents itself. Asking your child to look the clock, then what time will it be when we get home, if we go somewhere for 2 hours? We will also play games to help develop number sense, with addition and subtraction.

Social studies continues with our American Symbols, drawing the Statue of Liberty will be our art lesson with Miss Nancy.

The unit on weather is finishing up! We will review the temperature and weather conditions during the week.

Blessings,

Mrs. Brown
