Academics for the week:

Religion focus is on Mary, praying the Rosary, and Light Is Good. We will have an activity based on scripture, John 8:12; Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.

Language arts continues with spelling sorts, sentence structure, reading and writing. Keep up the sight word practice – your children are doing great! Reading workshop has your children using strategies to find harder words, sight words, using a word wall, and working with their partner to read pictures with more words. We are using the strategies to build stronger reading muscles as we read for fun and to learn. Writing workshop how we can help care for the world as we work on the persuasive unit.

Math – subtraction and addition facts and skills. Using the plus and minus sign as we write out math sentences. Place value with one, tens, hundreds. Introduction of the hour hand clock and learning to measure time in the sense of the duration of an hour.

Social studies – unit on American Symbols continues – Memorial Day remembering our fallen heroes.

Blessings,

Mrs. Brown
