We are looking forward to our Primary Center day on Friday. If you are interested in volunteering, please send me an email.
Take a look at our Academic Week:
Homework: Reading Log Fluency and Spelling City (only two assignments) ; No IXL
There will be no ixl to allow some time to look up information about their saint.
Religion Homework: Due on October 24th. Your child took their assigned saint on Friday in their homework folder. I did send a sample of the report so you may have an idea of what is expected. Today, your child will go home with another option of writing their report. Your child must choose only one way of writing up their report (You can do both, if you would like).
FLAT PEOPLE : The students will begin their letter of introduction, envelopes addressed and stamped to send off to our host family by the end of this week. Pictures will be developed this week so we can get them laminated and ready to send off this weekend.
RELIGION: The next two weeks we will discuss Baptism and ways we belong to God’s Church; God speaks to us through the Bible, the Old Testament (stories about God’s plan for all people) and New Testament (stories of Jesus and the early Church). Jesus speaks to us about God’s love.
Please continue sending baptismal pictures, candles, etc. to share in class. It is not a required assignment but it would be wonderful to share our beautiful sacrament with one another. I will not return things until they share them in class (about one to two weeks). We do not have the time to share all their memoribilia all in one day.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
We will finish the last silly story, “Mrs. Brown Went to Town”. By Wednesday, we will begin Theme 2: Nature Walk with the story “Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night”. Our strategy focus will be questioning. We will also be working on long vowels; two sounds for ‘g’; Dictionary work; writing telling and asking sentences.
Read aloud: We just finished reading Nate the Great: Halloween Hunt(Chapter Book Series) and Alexander, the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day. We will be reading I Need My Monster and Cam Jansen (Chapter Book Series).
Spelling: Unit 8: Short vowels and final double consonants
MATH: We will work on related addition and subtraction facts (Fact Families), time, missing numbers on a hundreds grid and addition and subtraction word problems. We will work on Unit 2: 2.6-2.9 in our Everyday Math Program.
SCIENCE: We will be taking our first Science test on Thursday. We will review our first unit on the plant life cycle. I hope you all received your new lima bean plant this week. Please send any pictures of your new plant when it begins to grow lima beans. It is always exciting to see plants go through the whole life cycle.
