Dear Second Grade Families,
We will attend Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Friday followed by the saint presentations and parade as it is our celebration of All Saints day! I hope to see many of you on Friday.
Remember to have a dress rehearsal at home with your child’s saint costume before Friday. They must be able to walk and kneel with their costumes. They must wear their uniform underneath their saint costume. Any questions, please send me an email.
This is our academic overview for this week:
Homework: No reading log (spend time practicing saint report),FLUENCY, Spelling city (Unit 11)
Please keep practicing saint report. We are working on eye contact and speaking clearly. They will be reciting their report on Friday at church.
Language Arts:
We will be reading, Exploring Parks with Ranger Dockett. Our comprehension skill focus will be identifying and differentiating between fact and opinion.
We will be working with the consonant clusters r, l and s. Children will be working on double final consonants in their spelling words.
Writing: We will choose a small moment (narrative) to begin editing this week.
Other focuses: capitalization, punctuation, writing command sentences
Spelling/Phonics: Unit 11 consonant clusters
Reviewing the hard and soft g and hard and soft c
Math: We will wrap up Unit 2. We will take our math test on Wednesday!!!
Religion: We continue learning about each others saints.
We will wrap up our chapter on Baptism this week.
Social Studies/Science: Citizens/Animal Life Cycle (Frog, Chicken)
Flat mail is beginning to arrive!!!
IMPORTANT:
Flat mail will be read in class then sent home to share with family. Your child MUST return all mail to class. I will keep all their letters and pictures in a safe place until it is time to work on our project in February.
