Dear Kindergarten families,
Thank you, Mia for reporting on our terrific ten! We truly are a close group of friends enjoying every day here at SHS 🙂
Amazing it’s the middle of the month! Academically and socially are moving along at a nice pace, learning about the saints and getting ready for our first Primary Centers on Friday.
Wednesday is another free dress, this time all proceeds go for the Adopt-A-Family – please contribute $1.00 or more if possible.
Religion lessons will focus on knowing the story of several saints and to understand we can ask our saints to pray for us. We will begin to pray Our Father, Hail Mary, a Grace after meals, and To the Guardian Angel. I’ll send home the prayers this week to pray at home, too.
ELA- continues to reinforce the letters/sounds of several letters including short vowel /a/ and /e/ to make simple words. This week we will review consonants b, d, f, h, m, s and t and focus on c and k. Sight words from list 1 and 2 will practiced for spelling and tested on this week. Readers and Writers workshops are making progress as we read and write more words. Using our strategies to re-read and find sight words, and match pictures to some words. Writer’s are making progress with simple sentences. We are keeping a journal of vegetable garden, all is coming together well.
Math – it’s time to prepare for our best number writing; understanding money and value of coins, penny through the quarter; always reinforcing the meaning of numbers; and working with the ‘tricky’ teen numbers.
Science – plant and animals in the fall – noticing the growth and different types of veggies and how animals prepare for the winter during this season of fall.
Social studies – we will continue looking at the word map.
Friday is a noon dismissal and our first Primary Centers. I would enjoy a few more parents or grandparents coming to help and this will earn 2 service hours. Time 10:00 to 11:45 on Friday. Please send me an email if you can help.
Thank you for your little saints!
