Hello Families!
October feels like it is in a sprint! I cannot believe how quickly the month is going by! This past week we worked hard!
In Reading, we focused on the “silent e” or what the “Secret Stories” call, “Mommy e” who when at the end of a word tells the vowel to say its name. The word “name” in the last sentence has a silent “e”. The letter “a” has the long “a” sound.
I made magic “e” wands that we used to make words without “e” at the end to magically be turned into new words like cap to cape…with a “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo”!
In Math, we worked on word problems. We practiced reading them out loud and underlining the important parts of the problems. We also had to figure out what the problem was asking us to do. Challenging, but a great first step! We began learning about our “Turn-a-Around Facts” using our wipe-off triangle boards as a tool.
In Religion, we learned about how important it is to take care of ourselves and others by learning to ask for help, learning what our emotions mean, and cheering each other on when we do challenging work.
All in all, a great week!
