Hello Second Grade Families,
Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day! We will be celebrating Friday’s holiday with a Valentine exchange here in class. Please check your e-mail for more specific instructions.
Tuesday afternoon, the students will be taking home their Progress Reports. Please remember to sign and return these with your child’s School Work folder.
Math: This week we will wrap up Unit 5 with a lesson on symmetry before reviewing for a test on Thursday. For those who requested, review packets as well as Home Links for the next Unit will go home on Tuesday with the homework folders.
For IXL homework, please complete the following skills:
T.8 Symmetry
T.9 Identify lines of symmetry
U.4 Compare vertices, edges and faces
Reading: This week is all about reading and rhyming by using patterns and rhymes. We will identify rhyming patterns before before using them to read more smoothly and spell more easily.
Writing: This week we will begin our next unit – Nonfiction Chapter Books! We will get ready to write by teaching all about a topic of choice.
Word Work: This week’s spelling words can be found on Spelling City. Our next test will be on Friday.
Science: This week is all about hearts as we will learn how our own hearts pump blood.
Religion: Congratulations to all of those who received the Sacrament of First Reconciliation last Wednesday. The students returned to the classroom with such joy, eager to share all about their experiences. Many reported feeling relieved, while others mentioned feeling lighter and fresh again. Now, on to First Communion preparations!
Have a great week,
Ms. Espinosa
