Hope everyone is keeping warm during these cool and rainy California days. Here is a peek at what second grade is learning this final week of January.
HOMEWORK

Fluency Wk 14
Reading Log Wk 14 – Please read a minimum of 20 minutes daily with the goal of having read 100 or more minutes for the week.
A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS
READING: We are learning how to become expert readers when reading nonfiction books. We are learning to notice, learn, and question as we read everything (subtitles, definitions, jokes, pictures, etc.) on the pages.
PHONICS: We are learning how to tackle multisyllabic words with the hard and soft /C/ and the hard and soft /G/.
SPELLING: Spelling tests will be on Friday.
MATH: We took the Unit 4 Assessment on Monday. We are starting Unit 5 which focuses on 2D and 3D shapes.
RELIGION: In Chapter 12, we are learning how we meet Jesus in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
WRITER’S WORKSHOP: We are learning to write about our favorite books as we express our opinions and provide reasons supporting our opinions.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We will learn about about heroes of the past and their impact on society.
EVENTS THIS WEEK
FRIDAY: 11:00 a.m. Morning Prayer Service and 11:45 a.m. dismissal
