Fluency Wk 29 – This should be completed over the course of 4 days.
Reading Log Wk 29 – Please read a minimum of 20 minutes daily with the goal of having read 100 or more minutes for the week. Students should try challenging themselves to read 25 minutes daily when possible.
A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS
READING: We continue using the different reading strategies we have learned throughout the year as we read longer, more complex books. Our focus is on improving fluency and comprehension (beyond what is written in the text). We are also working on book reviews of our favorite books from the year.
PHONICS: We are learning how prefixes (pre-, re-, and in) change the meanings of words. We are also learning how to notice when letter combinations act as prefixes and when they don’t.
SPELLING: Spelling tests will be given on Thursday, June 3.
MATH: We are reviewing concepts we have learned throughout the year by playing math games.
RELIGION: This week we are learning that as Catholics we are called upon to serve others and follow God’s laws of love.
WRITER’S WORKSHOP: We published our nonfiction writing books. We are working on writing about our favorite memories of second grade and what we look forward to doing during the summer.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We continue learning about economics with the focus on how countries around the world trade goods and services.
SCIENCE: We will be learning how to attract different birds by the nests we build.
