ACADEMICS

Reading: We have been using our high frequency and sight words to read more fluently. We begin our next reading unit which focuses on our reading fluency and comprehension as we read bigger books.

Phonics: We are learning about the -gh sound in different words such as ghost, might, enough, and through. We are also learning about adding -ing and -ed to words ending with a silent e

Spelling: Please check your student’s planner for their sort. Spelling tests will be on Monday. Some students may spend two weeks on a sort.

Math: We are learning to identify the names and characteristics of quadrangles and 3-dimensional shapes.

Writing: Nonfiction Writing – We are adding final touches to our nonfiction writing. Some students have begun writing another nonfiction book.

Religion: We are learning about Lent as we prepare for Easter through prayer and sacrifice.

Social Studies: We continue learning how to create a timeline of our own lives by placing important events in order in which they occurred.

HOMEWORK

Fluency – Please read the fluency passage and answer the questions on the back. This should be completed over the course of 4 days.

Reading log – Please read 20 minutes daily with a minimum of 100 minutes read for the week. Please write the book titles and the minutes read.

Math IXL – none this week

Social Studies – Work on timeline. Please refer to the email sent home on Monday. Timelines are due March 16.
