Dear Kindergarten Families,

Grandparents Day went well! I am glad so many grandparents were able to visit our classroom and be a part of our daily routine.

Welcome to the fifth week of school! Homework packets were sent home with the “Me Cube” please note directions for all pages and list books your read with your child. Homework is due on Thursday. The ‘My Me Cube” can be returned any day. We will use the cubes for getting to each other activities in class.

Uniform dress is required for School Pictures on Wednesday. Please remember your child’s envelope with picture options marked and check enclosed.

Tuesday and Thursday –Water sales for $1.00 will help support our first trimester mission, Adopt-A-Family.

This is  a full week of school with a 2:45 dismissal on Friday.

Alexis is having a birthday on Monday, September 12.

Academics for the week:

Religion for this week will continue with creation, knowing about our names, the names of our friends, compassion, understanding and caring in our daily lives.

We have covered the material in the beginning of our reading series.” Welcome to Kindergarten”. Now it is time to begin Theme 1 in our Language Arts book. As we read books in this theme level, we will look at comprehension and noting details as we compare and contrast stories. Rhyming words, ABC recognition, with a focus on letters and their sounds,  Kk, Ll, Mm, and Nn for this week.

Math will have us sorting by color, size, and shape. We will begin to use a graph, comparing objects as we chart our findings. Social Studies will look at people and their occupations. Science lessons include looking at animals and their needs.
