Dear Kindergarten Families,

Your students held up good in the heat on Monday. We took it easy, but they still accomplished a lot of class work!  Tuesday promises to be a bit cooler. Please, in uniform the rest of the week, we’ll try to be cool as possible. I’ll give a sprinkling and a mist of H2O to help cool us down during the day. A break from our class, going up to the air conditioned Hall will be refreshing, too!

*Please send a water bottle and a snack each day. If your child has hot lunch, they still need a snack at our nutrition break at 10:00.

Tuesday morning at 9:00 we have a bicycle safety assembly – parents are welcome if your schedule permits.

Religion continues with Chapter 5 Quiet is Good- recognizing quiet times to pray as we open our hearts to Jesus.

The Saint’s Parade is November 4! During the month of October…..be thinking of a saint that your child will represent for our annual event. More information coming in my homework letter on Friday.

ELA – Letter and sound recognition —  the major part of phonics at this point. The rule for printing is all letters start at the top. Help your child with this if you notice their pencil starting at the bottom line.  We are enjoying the Reading Workshop each day. Storybooks (old favorites) are reading material during this Chapter. You may have noticed a chart in their gold folder, titled “How to Make an Old Favorite”. This method will help your child identify as readers, recruiting your involvement will make a huge difference. 🙂

Math-counting daily by fives and using tally marks, coin comparisons and value, shape puzzles, and tens frames.

Science- life science continues with learning about animals and how they change. Vocabulary newborn and adult.

Social studies – looking at people in our community, country and the world.

Thursday we visit the school library. Return books by Wednesday to check out a new one.

Noon dismissal on Friday with Primary Centers after recess. As always, families are welcome to sit with us for Mass.

Warmly,

Mrs. Carol Brown
