Dear Kindergarten Parents,

I hope everyone had a nice long restful weekend! We have an exciting week ahead of us. We are doing well with our daily routines, small group learning, and following class schedules.

Livia, Joshua, Alexis, Jiang, and Mikaella will be celebrating their birthdays this month!

This Wednesday we will have a free dress (non-uniform) day. The cost is $1.00 – proceeds are donated to the mission efforts selected each trimester.

Big news for our students! It is Grandparent’s Day this Friday. We will begin in the morning with Mass @ 8:30. All grandparents are welcome to meet at the Church to walk in and sit with us. We sit in on the right side of the church, the first 7 or 8 pews.  A reception for Grandparents will follow Mass. Class visits will be after all students take a recess to get their ‘wiggles’ out!

Friday is a noon dismissal.

Academics:

Our religion studies include working on a creation booklet, learning how important it is to show respect to Jesus, knowing his name is holy. We are also learning the importance of our names. This will be a component of our homework following the “Me”cube.

Language Arts: we are working to finish identifying the alphabet, practicing letter formation, and sight word reading. Find time to read with your children each night. Reading and being read to is fun, it promotes a mastery of language, better communication skills, also helps concentration and discipline.

Math: has us sorting objects by color, size and shape. We use the number line to count by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s to 30 and counting by 10’s to 100, we also count back from 100 to 0. This is a daily practice. Extra practice at home is encouraged to continue reinforcing this skill.

Science studies continue with animal needs, growth, and movement. Our unit in Social studies continues to focus on ourselves, family, neighborhood and community.

Last Friday we learned about the “blue moon” and Neil Armstrong. Using water colors the kinders painted the sky and space. Today we had a short film clip- to get a better understanding of  Mr. Armstrong’s accomplishments in space and his famous walk on the moon.

Have a great week!

God Bless your families

Mrs. Carol Brown
