In a bee that lasted from the morning into the afternoon, and then right up to dismissal, students, staff, and families felt the intensity of 28 spellers on stage working their way through the words listed on the Scripps National Spelling Bee 2023 School Competition List. In the 11th round, and finally down to four students and minutes to spare before dismissal….

In the final round, Nicholas G, an 8th grade student, spelled a word correctly to emerge as this year’s winner. Two 7th grade students, Abigail C and Susanna D, and one 6th grade student, Leila M, remain as runner-ups in this year’s competition. Nicholas G, a winner in a previous year’s bee, now goes on to compete in the Ventura County Bee.

Thanks to the 28 Bee participants for an exciting event! Congratulations to all!
