Sneak Peek of our Academic Week

math: This week we wrap up our unit 1! We will take our math test this Tuesday. Then, we will jump into re-familiarizing ourselves with fact families + their extensions in order to help with adding more fluently! For example: 3 + 5= 8 which means that 30 + 50= 80.

reading: In reading this week, we will focus on predicting. Not only before we read, but during. In our independent reading + our reading groups, we will work on pause + predict. Great readers make predictions throughout their book!

writing: We continue working on our personal narratives. This week, we will work on expanding to our seed ideas. We want our stories to be full of detail!

word work: This week we begin Words Their Way! This is our differentiated spelling program where we focus on spelling patterns to help us become the best spellers we can be! Spelling words can be found on Vocabulary A-Z + in your child’s planner. It’s always great to practice these throughout the week!

grammar: All about pronouns! Pronouns are words that can replace a noun in a sentence.

religion: This week in religion we will learn all about the bible story: Joseph + his Coat of Many Colors. Then, we will focus on The Apostles’ Creed and how we profess our faith.
We will begin attending 8:30a mass on Friday, October 13. Come join us if your schedule allows!

Have a great week!
