The week ahead in 4thgrade

Math: We are finishing up Unit 5; the test will be on Thursday.

Reading: We continue reading and discussing our book club books.

Writing: Most of the personal opinion essays have been finished; the fourth graders did an excellent job writing them! We are now doing a short poetry unit, writing haikus.

Spelling: Last week we started work on Unit 20; the test will be on Friday.

Vocabulary: This week we begin work on Unit 9; the test will be next week.

Social Studies: We will conclude our unit on geography with a quiz tomorrow on the 7 continents and 5 major oceans, and on Thursday we will take a quiz on the concepts we have learned.  Students have foldables and study sheets which will help them to prepare, and we have been reviewing in class as well.

Science: We are finishing our work on Chapter 4; the test will be on Friday.

Religion: The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is next Monday; we will be discussing our dreams for this world, which will be related to our study of the 5thcommandment, which calls us to respect all life.  We will also begin discussing the sixth commandment, but there will be no quiz this week.
