UPCOMING FEBRUARY EVENTS FOR SECOND GRADERS!!! (And not necessarily in this order)

1. Valentine’s Day. Celebration will be Monday, February 14th. (Valentines are to be brought in on this day).
2. We will begin cursive handwriting. (Please do not go ahead of the classroom instruction. This is how bad habits are formed and incorrect letter formation can happen).
3. Preparing for First Reconciliation, and learning the Act of Contrition.
4. Presidents’ Day and Lincoln and Washington stories and activities.
5. Begin “The Adventures of a Flat Person”…details to follow. (Letters will go out this week asking for the return of our flat second graders).
6. Life Skills…telling time on an analog clock and digital clock and counting money. You can continue helping your child by daily practice of these skills.
7. Adding 2-digit numbers with/without regrouping. Continue with math fact practice.

A class list for Valentine’s Day cards will be going home soon. Second Graders are to do their own card signing and addressing of envelopes. Cards will be given to all of the students, not just a few selected special friends.
