Looking back on the past few days, we celebrate and thank all of the men and women who have served our country, both presently and in the past. We pray for all of those affected by the tragedy in Thousand Oaks and for those throughout the state who are impacted by the fires.

The week ahead in 4thgrade

Math: We continue our work on decimal concepts and basic operations.

Reading: We have started a unit on non-fiction reading and will be selecting a non-fiction book when we go to the library tomorrow.  I want students to have one non-fiction book at school at all times, but they may continue reading chapter books as well.  Remember to keep up with the Reading Response Journals! If you have any questions, please contact me. Remember nightly homework is to read 20-30 minutes!

Writing: We continue our unit on opinion writing.

Spelling: We are working from Unit 14. Again, we have 25 words written in our daily planners, but we will only be tested on 20. Due to the short week this week and next, we will be taking our test next Tuesday. Remember that these words are also available on SpellingCity.com.

Vocabulary: We continue Unit 6 this week; the test will be on Friday. The words are available for practice on spellingcity.com.

Social Studies: We continue chapter 2, learning about the early CA Indians and the European explorers.

Science: We continue chapter 3 this week, learning about energy in ecosystems.

Religion: We are reading chapter 11, focusing on the second commandment, and we will have a quiz on this chapter next week.

Homework:

Tuesday: Reading response journal and Math Master page 112

Wednesday: Reading response journal and Math Master page 113

Thursday: Reading response journal and Math Master page 119
