We have our first of two in-house field trips this Thursday; if you have not yet sent in the money for the two programs ($16) please do so. We are still collecting extra Halloween candy, which will be added to our donations of teddy bears in early December. As part of our Flag Retirement Ceremony on Friday we will have a patriotic (red, white and blue) free dress ($1); the proceeds will help to support Catholic veterans.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
Religion: We are finishing chapter 7, and begin our study of the Ten Commandments with chapter 8.
Math: We will finish Unit 3 this week; the test will be on Thursday. Students will be bringing home their Math journals to work on Math Boxes in Unit 3. They will need to complete ixL Math skills G 1 and G 3 by next Monday.
Reading Workshop: We are wrapping up our unit on Character Studies, and in the weeks before the Christmas holidays we will be doing a short unit on “Solving the Mystery Before the Detective”. There will be a selection of books to choose from in our classroom and in the library, but students may bring in their own as well. All reading levels have been re-assessed, and I would like students to select books at their new reading levels. Please sign the reading log for any reading done at home. Reading Fluency: Students should complete fluency homework #13. This will be due next Monday.
Spelling: We are studying Unit 11 words; the test will be on Friday.
Writer’s Workshop: We are working on final drafts of our stories.
Vocabulary: We begin our study of Unit 7. The final test will be next Wednesday.
Grammar: We begin unit 3, Verbs.
Social Studies: We continue our study of early Native Americans in CA, learning in greater detail about the early peoples in each of the four regions.
Science: We have finished chapter 2; the test will be on Thursday.
Thanking you for your continuing support,
Mrs. Mary Dwyer
