THE WEEK AHEAD:

The eighth graders continue selling bottled water on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Friday is a full day.

HOMEWORK (due Monday): Students should complete ixL Math skills A 1 and A 2, as well as Language skill A 8. Students will be doing Fluency week 6.Please initial the sheet each time they read. They are to do 20-30 minutes of reading each night (please initial all reading done at home).

DAILY WORK

Religion: We are discussing chapter 3, which focuses on the leaders of the Church.

Math: We have begun unit 2, and are focusing upon place value understanding.

Reading Workshop: Everyone is to be reading a realistic fiction book. We are learning how to “read” our characters by focusing on their words and actions, especially when they change. Writing Workshop: We are planning our stories using story arcs and will then be writing scenes.

Spelling: We are learning Unit 5 words; the test will be on Friday.

Vocabulary: We continue our work on Unit 3; the test will be on Friday.

Grammar: We continue our study of types of sentences. We will have a test on Unit One next week.

Social Studies: We are reading Studies Weekly issue #4, with the focus being the natural resources found in the four geographic regions of California. We will have a test on weeks 3 and 4 next week.

Science: We are learning about the characteristics of various land and water ecosystems.
