Hello Kindergarten Families!

Here we are nearing the end of January… and moving along well in Kindergarten!

Events:
School Book Fair -Thursday 26 through Tuesday 31

Primary Centers on Friday – noon dismissal

Religion focus – love is a special gift God gives us to happily share with others. Scripture leads our lesson, Jesus says “Love one another as I love you.”

Language arts – working on sounds, syllables, and vowels. Our daily journal writing works as a guide to correct letter formation.

Math – counting by 5’s, using nickels, tally marks and repetition for this skill. Practice counting a bit each night to master skip counting by 5’s.

Science – season of winter, changes to plants and animals. Social studies continues with Dr. King and his message of peace.

Homework:

Recommended reading each night is 20 to 30 minutes. Use the Book response to retell the setting and characters in a favorite story. This week an Animal Report on MAMMALS. Choose either land or water mammals for the report.

The World Book Web is a good resource.

IXL practice

Math – in class we practiced section G. Several mastered G.4 – continue to practice this skill if your child needs. Otherwise move on to master G.5

G.4 learning to skip-count by 5s

G.5 – skip-count by 5s

Language arts

J.1 Find the short /a/ word

K.1 Find the short /e/ word

If you would like your child to do part of their homework in EDC, that is alright. Remembering EDC staff has plenty of other obligations to attend to. It is best to check your child’s work before Tuesday.

If you have any questions, feel free to send an email.

Blessings,

Mrs. Brown
