Hello K families!

Monday is day 99 and Tuesday marks our 100 days of school!! We will be doing several activities related to 100. Homework is due on Tuesday. Please bring in the bags of 100 small items grouped in fives, tens or twenties for easier counting. It is going to be fun……

Religion continues to focus on God’s love as he sent Jesus to show us his love and how to love others.

We continue to work daily on long and short vowel sounds. In addition sounds of all consonants. Reading our big books in partners and reading booklets in groups. Looking for words that make connections with the pictures. Daily writing has improved and we are beginning to complete two descriptive sentences about our day.

Work on counting verbally by fives at home, we are practicing this in class daily. In class I am using tally marks and nickels in our math groups. Tally marks are another skill to do at home for extra practice and fluency. Lots of counting on 100 day!

The continent South America is a study area as one of our students is in Chile for a couple weeks. We have been looking at the map, will learn about the people, animals, and geography during February. Your children already are familiar with the location of the country of Chile!

This Friday and the next are noon dismissals, the 17th is Primary Centers. I’ll send out a calendar for service hour opportunities in February. I’ll need help for Centers – although you must have completed the Virtus training and have your certificate on file.

God bless your families,

Mrs Brown
