Busy week ahead! Lots to do before Easter vacation. Congratulations to our five finalists for the poetry contest: Christine, Grayson, Kai, Emma, and Julian. Tuesday is judging and hopefully we will have a winner in Kindergarten!

Third trimester progress reports are coming home Tuesday – please review, sign and return on Friday, April 12.

Religion finds us learning about Jesus and doing projects so we can retell the Life of Christ. We are reading from the Children’s Bible and finding many stories of His love for us, miracles of healing, and the passion as we continue to attend the Stations of the Cross.

Language arts lessons continue with sorts and spelling, reading and writing. Sight words are something to work on each night – an easy way to do this is finding those words as you read together. I am testing every week – look for a book or paper coming home to show which words your child is working on.

Working with making exchanges with pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. Have your child count change at home it really helps understand value. Place value: ones, tens and hundreds are key to understanding double and triple digit numbers. We are working on number stories with subtraction and addition to 10 and beyond.

Learning about weather continue for science. A lab Tuesday – starting a make weather vane.

We a getting excited for our field trip to Channel Islands Museum next Monday. Please have your child dress in uniform shirt and jeans or uniform pants. We will eat an early lunch and get on the bus at 11:45. Remember hot lunch will not be delivered before we go. So pack a lunch for you child.

Enjoy your week!

Mrs. Brown
