Dear Kindergarten Families,

Here we are at the end of October! It is hard to believe your students have been in school over 50 days. I have decided rest time-heads down on towels has reached an ending point. We are resting a different way, I divide the rest time into two 15 minutes sections.  We start with a relaxing story, or video streaming related to academics. After 15 minutes the class will either finish a worksheet, participate in silent reading, or make puzzles. Thus the towels will be coming home to stay!

A look at this week:

Monday, Halloween related activities/worksheets for math and language arts. For science,  simple sequencing booklet on growing a pumpkin. Your child may wear Halloween tops and uniform bottoms. A music assembly with Mr. Doswell at 1:50 to 2:30.

All Saint’s Day Mass on Tuesday, November 1 @ 8:30.

Friday is the Saint’s Parade beginning with your children coming to school in their saint costume. Please wear uniform underneath and regular school shoes. We attend Mass at 8:30 as little saints, parade follows on school field.

Friday is a noon dismissal.

Academics:

Talking to God about those we love. We are learning to ask God for help and thank Him for all the goodness in our lives. Chapter 6 lessons tell us that prayer can include reflection, gestures, music, song, and dance. Patterns continue in math with problem solving, odd and even numbers, and counting by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s. We are covering a lot in language arts–we are reviewing consonants and vowels and their sounds. Sight word sentences with descriptions using colors and number words to make sentences show more information. Letter and sound of /Rr/, print practice, punctuation,  and number formation. Reading strategy is to look for details as we note and reflect on characters, beginning, middle, and ending of stories. Science and Social Studies continue with animals, habitats, different land forms in the world.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Carol Brown
