Dear Kindergarten Families,

I hope all enjoyed the 3-day weekend! This is a short week with a full day Friday. Next week, Wednesday will be a noon dismissal to get ready for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Please bring in $2.00 for the donut fundraiser – we only have two days to get all monies in for each student. Last day to pre-order is Wednesday. Donuts will be delivered on Friday just before recess. Your child won’t want to miss this treat. All proceeds go to the Adopt-A-Family mission.

Religion –  being thankful for all God has provided us.  We will continue to add prayers to each day,  Hail Mary before recess and end the day, Our Father along with Guardian Angel. Learning the parts of Mass is ongoing this month.

Our new Phonics series pairs with the Reading and Writing Workshops. We are in the second book for all workshops. Phonics is covering alphabet, letter sounds, reading lessons are using our powers to sound out words, read sight words, and pictures. How to writing (informational) is our focus in writers workshop. Reading leveled books begin this week.

Math – the pan balance will be introduced, measuring weights of objects, also revisiting patterns, and correct number formation.

We will revisit Veterans Day, using our booklets to discuss the 5 branches of the military and how they keep us safe.

Science finds us working in the garden and learning about animals – this week our focus is on the characteristics of fish.

Our garden is growing quite well even in this windy hot weather. We are watering, observing, measuring, and writing as we learn how each different vegetable plant grows. Hopefully we will harvest some healthy tasty treats in December.

Thanking you for your children!

Mrs. Brown
