Dear Third Grade Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. It was a pleasure to see my class again today.
This week marks the beginning of Trimester 2. Report cards for the first trimester will be going home next Tuesday and will be further discussed during the week at parent-teacher conferences. Please contact Mrs. Hahn in the Office if you need to confirm your appointment or would like to change it.
This week all SHS students took home paper bags for the St. Vincent de Paul canned food drive. Please take a moment with your child to fill it up with groceries for needy families in the community. This is a very worthy cause as well as a great moment to show your child what it is to think of others. Friday is the school-wide deadline for this event.
With regards to our studies, I am very pleased to announce that we have begun learning multiplication and division concepts! We will start with the 10s, 5s and 2s and then move on to other numbers as the weeks progress.
In science, we are beginning a unit on the solar system. Keep your eyes on the skies!
Language arts finds us beginning a unit on family traditions with a focus on the holidays. We are also publishing writing and continuing our study of adjectives.
In social studies, we are wrapping up our unit on the community.
And finally, in religion we will begin our Advent unit starting with the Jesse Tree!
Thursday is our Harvest of the Month! Mrs. Hoffman will be featuring delicious peppers.
I hope you have a great week!
Best,
Mrs. Espinosa
