Dear Third Grade Families,
Thank you very much to all of those families who contributed to the St. Vincent de Paul canned food drive! Our class gathered A LOT of non-perishable food that is now on its way to needy families of our community.
Tuesday is our annual Teddy Bear Day. Please remember to bring a new stuffed animal to school on this day. All toys collected will be donated to needy children.
Trimester 1 Report Cards will be sent home Tuesday with your child’s weekly work packet. Please remember to sign and return the envelope it is sent in as confirmation that you have received it. We will review these at Parent-Teacher conferences this week.
Since Thursday is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, all classes will be attending 8:30 mass. As always, parents and families are welcome to join us if schedules permit.
We continue to visit the SHS Library every Thursday. Please remind your child to turn in his/her books on time so that new ones may be checked out before overdue fines are charged.
In terms of academics, this week will cover the following:
Math: Multiplication concepts and key vocabulary (factor, product, array, multiple, commutative property), multiplying by 10s, 5s and 2s, followed by a quiz on Thursday.
Language Arts: Classifying and categorizing our reading (key features of fiction and non-fiction texts), adjectives, spelling with r-controlled words, publishing in Writer’s Workshop
