Hello Third Grade Families!

Trimester 1 “Progress Reports” go home tomorrow and they look very different from the Report Cards of years past. In grades K-5, students are now evaluated on specific grade-level standards. They are scored on a 1-4 scale with the focus being on year-end goals. There will be time at parent conferences to discuss any questions you may have as we transition to these new reports.

I look forward to meeting with you at conferences this week. If you have any questions regarding appointment times or need to reschedule, please contact the Office.

Due to conferences, the students will be dismissed at 11:30 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Also, our studies will be somewhat abbreviated.

This week the students will be working on the following…

Math: We will continue Unit 4 focusing on multiplication and division. This week the class will cover lessons 4.9-4.10. As always, see the Home Links at www.everydaymathonline.com for extra practice with skills learned in class. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.

Note: The Unit 4 test will take place next Tuesday, December 16th.

For IXL this week, students are to complete the following third grade skills:

F.5 Multiply by 4

H.1 Divide by 1

H.5 Divide by 5

Spelling: Click here for this week’s spelling words & pattern.

Vocabulary: This week we will complete Unit 8. Our next vocabulary quiz will be this Friday.

Reading: Keep your eye out for the next e-mail listing which books your child will need for Unit 3. We continue to focus on inferential questions as we turn more of our attention toward building comprehension skills.
