Hello Third Grade Families,
Happy President’s Day! I hope everyone enjoyed the long, wet weekend.
Math: This week we move on from geometry and into multiplication/division facts. Unit 7’s focus is largely on student mastery of all math facts from 1×1 to 10×10 with the ultimate goal being automaticity. We will isolate those facts that students struggle most with (the 6s, 7s, and 8s) and spend the bulk of our time there.
IXL Homework:
G.4 Multiplication facts for 2, 3, 4, 5 & 10: find the missing factor.
CC.10: Symmetry.
EE.2 Count vertices, edges and faces.
Reading: This week in our unit on character studies, we will notice how a character resolves big problems while learning lessons along the way.
Homework: 100 minutes (minimum) read & logged.
Word Work: This week’s words can be found in your child’s planner. Our next spelling test is scheduled for Monday.
Grammar: Our grammar focus is on More Irregular Verbs: Lesson 24. Go online to the Grammar Workshop website in order to access more practice and study opportunities.
Writer’s Workshop: This week will be begin the revision process on our informational texts as we draft introductions to our books.
Science: Wednesday night is the School Fair. All class projects will be featured in the Hall from 6:00-7:30pm that evening. Our class will contribute this year with something of a mosaic on the Periodic Table of Elements. Come check it out!
Religion: We now begin Chapter 9: God is Just and Merciful.
Have a great week!
Ms. Espinosa
