Hello third grade families,
The intermediate grades are set to take the stage Wednesday night! We look forward to seeing all in the Hall for a 6:30 start.
Wednesday is a free dress day. Please plan to bring $1 or more as all fund collected will be donated directly to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Below is a quick peek at our week:
Math: Up until now, the students have been introduced to two kinds of fractions: region (area) models such as circles and polygons, and set models (collections of things). Now we are moving into a third model ~ the fraction number line.
IXL Homework:
W.9 Fractions of number lines: unit fractions
W.11 Identify unit fractions on number lines
W.12 Identify fractions on number lines
Word Work: This week’s words can be found in your child’s planner as well as on Spelling City. As you practice at home, remember to focus on the spelling pattern or principle. After all, the ultimate goal is to be able to apply that principle to new, unknown words. This week’s spelling tests will take place on Friday.
Writer’s Workshop: We continue with our unit on persuasive writing, now turning our attention to audience. We will also transform “wishy-washy” writing into strong claims made directly to our audiences.
Reading: Our unit on character studies rolls on, now past Because of Winn-Dixie as we wrap up the book and move on to Diamond Daniels.
Music: Our program is set to run from 6:30-7:30pm. Mr. H asks that you have your child present in the hall no later than 6pm (5:45 preferred). This will give us time to make sure everyone has all that they need without having to stress on time. Please have your child dressed in nice, casual clothes. Please No t-shirts, shorts, or open toed shoes. Pants and collared shirt for boys, and a dress or skirt or pants with blouse for girls.
Religion: This week we move on to Chapter 17: Jesus is Lord and King.
Have a great week!
Ms. Espinosa
