Hello Third Grade Families,

Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed the break.

Math: We will continue with Chapter 8: Fractions focusing on fractions on numbers lines & equivalent fractions. Our chapter test is tentatively planned for late next week.

IXL Homework:

W.9 Fractions of Number Lines: Unit Fractions

X.2 Identify Equivalent Fractions on Number Lines

Z.1 Fractions of a Number – Unit Fractions

Reading: This week we will review the use of punctuation to enhance phrasing and prosody. Since this is a read-aloud skill, practicing is a great opportunity for parent-child partner reading! Our class learned about how to read to a friend, so students should be able to show you!

Fluency: Click here for this week’s fluency homework.

Reading Log: Students should log in a minimum of 100 minutes of reading this week.

Word Work: As always, Sort #s can be found in planners. Feel free to use Spelling City as an additional practice resource. Our next test will be on Friday.

Writer’s Workshop: This week we begin our final genre: persuasive writing. We will generate and choose between different different ideas for changes we’d like to see in our communities.

Grammar: The class will continue Unit 4: Adjectives and Adverbs with lessons 30-32, focusing on adverbs.

Science: Our new unit will be all about what happens when environments change.

Social Studies: We will continue our unit on Government and Citizenship.

Religion: Happy Easter! This week the class begins Chapter 16: Jesus is Risen!

Best,

Ms. Espinosa
