Dearest Third Grade Families,
Mark your calendars because there is a lot going on this week! Monday and Wednesday are free dress days — Wednesday’s being for a $1 donation (or more!) with a sports theme. We are completing several chapters in class (see below). And finally, school is not in session Friday or the following Monday. Happy Memorial Day!
This week we’ll be studying the following:
Math: The class will continue Unit 9 (Multiplication & Division) covering lessons 9.3 & 9.4 as well as a bit of 9.5. As always, you are welcome to follow along with us by completing the “Home Links” at www.everydaymathonline.com. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.
Likewise, we continue to practice our multiplication and division facts. Take a look in your child’s planner for the latest progress report and individual goal. As a reminder, this is part of the nightly homework.
For IXL math homework, please complete the following Third Grade skills:
E.8 Multiply by a Multiple of 10
G.7 Divide Numbers Ending in Zeroes
G. 4 Complete the Division Sentence – Facts to 10
Reading & Writing: Congratulations to the winners of our school wide Speech Contest. Hannah & Haley were selected as two of this year’s winners. Keep practicing those listening and speaking skills as they are part of our ELA curriculum.

English: The class will complete Unit 5: Pronouns with Lesson 40: Contractions with Pronouns. The Unit 5 Test will take place this Wednesday. Additional practice and exercises are always available at the Grammar Workshop website.
Spelling: Note- this week’s spelling test is on THURSDAY due to the shortened week. Click here to download this week’s spelling words and pattern/principle. Don’t forget that the words for every unit are also available on www.spellingcity.com. Here you can find fun games and an interactive online practice test.
Vocabulary: This week we complete Unit 17. Our next vocabulary quiz will be this Thursday due to the shortened week. As a reminder, all words as well as activities and a practice quiz can be found at the Vocabulary Workshop website.
Science: The Chapter 1 test will be this Tuesday rather than Thursday as originally planned. My apologies for the inconvenience. We have reviewed extensively in class.
Social Studies: We will continue with our Social Studies Weekly series moving on to “Resources!”
Religion: We will complete Chapter 17 – Jesus Christ is Lord and King. Click here for the chapter Study Guide. Our next quiz will be this Thursday.
Have a great week!
