Dear Third Grade Families,
We had a blast celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday Friday afternoon. Our class did a fantastic job in the science lab making oobleck and we look forward to returning very soon.
Mark your calendars for Wednesday night’s School Fair from 6:30-8:00 in Biedermann Hall. Our class solar system projects will be on display for all to view, as well as those of other classes. I encourage all to attend and see our students’ hard work.
This Friday we will have “Intermediate Centers” focusing on math. It is also a noon dismissal day.
In terms of our studies, below is a preview of our week:
Math: We will continue to focus on fractions taking a short quiz on Tuesday and playing some new fraction games in our small groups! We will then turn our attention to connecting fractions to decimals. Remember to keep studying your math facts, too. They are part of your nightly homework.
Science: We will continue with the phases of the moon. See you at the School Fair on Wednesday!
Social Studies: We are wrapping up Unit 4 (producers & consumers) reviewing vocabulary and concepts in class.
Religion: Given the season, we will be focusing on Lent by taking a look at the liturgical calendar and learning why we do what we do at this time of the year.
Language Arts: Unit 23 continues in spelling giving students 2 weeks to study contractions. We will test on Friday. In grammar, we will begin a unit on verbs. In reading, we will begin to wrap up our unit on “Mysteries of the Deep.” Finally, we will begin publishing our personal narratives in Writer’s Workshop.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Espinosa
