Hello Third Grade Families!
This week we will continue ITBS testing . The plan is to complete the ITBS test on Monday and continue with the CogAT for the remainder of the week. As always, please remember to arrive at school on time and, as always, well rested. Results will be shared with parents during conferences in early December. I look forward to reviewing the information they are sure to yield.
In class this week, we’ll be studying the following:
Math: We will complete Unit 2 with a “Progress Check” (read: test) on Thursday. Feel free to follow along with us at www.everydaymathonline.com. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner. This is an excellent resource for reviewing before tests.
For IXL math homework, please complete the following Third Grade skills:
A.8 Number Sequences
C.9 Add Two Numbers with Four or More Digits
D.7 Subtract Numbers with Four or More Digits
As always, all three skills must be complete by Monday.
Spelling: Click here to download this week’s spelling words and pattern/principle. Our next spelling test will be this Friday.
Vocabulary: We will begin Unit 3 with a quiz next Friday. For a list of the words, definitions and additional practice go to the vocabulary workshop site. Instructions, along with a username and password, can be found taped on the inside cover of your child’s planner.
Reading: Library day is Thursday! Please remind your child to bring any books that are checked out so that they may be renewed or check back in.
We continue reading books from the Miami Jackson series!
Click here to download the Reading Log.
As a reminder, all students are to read for a minimum of 20 minutes each nigh Like the Reading Log, it is due every Monday. It is also part of the nightly homework.
English: We will be focusing on Lesson #8 Run-On Sentences from Unit 1 in our Grammar books. The Unit 1 test will take place next week. Log on to the Grammar Workshop website for additional practice and skills reinforcement. Directions can be found in your child’s planner.
Science: In class this week, we will complete Chapter 6 and review for Friday’s test. Students are always welcome to take their books home for review.
Social Studies: We will be learning all about bodies of water, climate & plant life.
Religion: The class will begin Chapter 6, “We Believe in God.”
Have a Great Week!
