Dear Third Grade Families,

This week we will begin collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items for our local Food Share pantry. Fifth grade will be hand delivering these the first Monday in June and we’d like to share as much as possible. My hope is that every student in our class will donate at least one item to help feed a hungry family in our community. Please feel free to bring these in as soon as possible.

Wednesday is a free dress day. Students should bring $1 for the Salvation Army should they choose to participate.

This week, we will be studying the following:

Math: We continue with geometry focusing on lines of symmetry, area and perimeter.

Language Arts: Spelling – Unit 32 continues the VCCV 2-syllable pattern with words having a matching double consonant. Grammar – Verbs in the present tense.  Reading/Writing – Building upon our study of main idea/details in reading, we will begin transferring this to our own ideas in writing.

Science: Chapter 2 continued with a closer look at animal behavioral adaptations.

Social Studies: We will begin to examine the three branches of the federal government.

Religion: On Wednesday we will attend the May crowning in the church at 2:00. All are invited to attend should your schedules permit. We will also be saying the Rosary in the church after mass on Friday morning.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Espinosa
