Dear third grade families,

Third grade will be back at it bright and early Tuesday morning as we continue to work on multiplication in math. We plan to complete Chapter 6 next week and then swiftly move on to division.

In language arts, we will finish learning our cursive letters. This week, you will notice that in addition to the Reading Log, students will have some cursive practice for homework. These letters are ones that students tend to struggle most with forming so a little extra work at home will help reinforce those skills. Please take a moment to check your child’s work for neatness before turning it in on Friday.  We will continue to work on the comprehension skill of “making connections” as well. Finally, spelling this week finds us reviewing units 13-17. Since there are extra spelling words (all of which are taken from previous units so students have seen and studied them before), we will not have vocabulary words this week.

We will continue our work on the solar system in science, first focusing on the inner planets and then taking a closer look at the outer planets.

In social studies, we will build on “basic needs” and begin to learn about producers and consumers.

Finally, we will begin Chapter 11 in our Religion books, “God Sent His Son Jesus to Live Among Us.

Upcoming Events:

Wednesday is a Free Dress day for $1. All money collected will go to a designated charity. Work packets will go out on this day, too.

Thursday we will have an assembly just before lunch.

Friday is a full day with “families” in the late afternoon.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Espinosa
