Hello, Second Grade Families!

We have another hot week!  We enjoyed popsicles from Ms. Benner today in the aftmoon.

Homework

Read for FUN!  I’m encouraging the class to take home some books from their book box to read at home. Be sure to return the books the following day.

Saint Report is due tomorrow, Tuesday. I will be typing their reports this week.  All students should have a their laminated report by Friday.  I ask that your child practice memorizing their report at home.  They will have an extra copy here in the classroom to practice during our Religion time.

 

Fluency will be sent home on Tuesday.

I will not assign any IXL this week.

I ask that you spend some time relaxing and enjoy watching some baseball this week as the Dodgers made it to the World Series.  We have a lot of Dodger fans in our class.

A Peek at our Week

Reading:  We are working on “When Words are Tricky, Roll Up Your Sleeves.”

  • Check the picture and think, “What would make sense?”
  • Look through the WHOLE word, part-by-part
  • Look for a work inside a word.  Don’t just say the words, figure out what they MEAN too!
  • Don’t give up! Try something! Take a guess!

Grammar:  Verbs  and Nouns

Math:  We will take our Math test on Tuesday.  We will also begin Unit 3.  Look in their homework folder on Wednesday for an overview on Unit 3.

 

Religion:  We will be learning about some our saints.

Our saint’s parade will be on November 3rd. I hope all the saint costumes are coming along. Please make sure to have a dress rehearsal at home with your child’s saint costume before Friday, November 3rd. They must be able to walk and kneel with their costumes. They must wear their uniform/P.E. uniform underneath their saint costume. If you have any questions, please send me an email.
