Dear Second Grade Parents,

We are ready for December!!!!!  We have lots to do this month. It’s beginning to get a little cold so remember to label your child’s sweater.

ACADEMICS THIS WEEK…

Homework:  NEW READING LOG, IXL (P.4), FLUENCY

Religion:  We will be playing some fun games to prepare for our Unit 1 test.

Language Arts

Reading: We will begin Theme 3 (Around Town: Neighborhood and Community) with the story “Chinatown” and reading Fables.

Writing: Grammar; naming words, common and proper nouns.  We continue writing about small moment and adding our voice to our writing.

Spelling:  This week we will be on Unit 14 for spelling.  We are working with long e words with a double ee and ea.  Go  onto spellingcity.com to practice your words.

MATH: We will be wrapping up Unit 3 this week.  Students will take their Unit 3 test on Friday.  Please review counting money and telling time.  Adding numbers such at 60+___=80,  10+30=___ and 35+15=__ . Simple addition such as 6+3= and 9+5=___.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  Continents

SCIENCE: Frog Life Cycle /learning about traits

Flat Mail NEWS:  We receive email daily from our host families.  I have sent an email reminding families to send some mail to their student.
