Wednesday:  Library Books due

Friday:  Full Day 2:45

February 27th:  Primary Centers 10:00-12:00 (Need 5 volunteers)

March 24th: First Reconciliation at 1:00

Take a Peek at our Week:

Homework:  FluencyReading Log and No IXL (We just started a new Unit), spelling city assignments (Unit 20)

FLAT PERSON UPDATE… By the end of next week we should start seeing some of our Flat Students return.   As soon as our Flat People begin to return, I will send the assignment for this project so you may begin preparing for the School Fair this month.

RELIGION: We will continue with the memorization of the Act of Contrition.  We will learn about the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit manifests peace, love and joy within us.  We will speak about the steps to Reconciliation.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

READING:   We will be beginning our new Theme 4.  The theme is about Amazing Animals.  We will begin the unit by reading Officer Buckle & Gloria.  Our strategy focus will be to monitor and clarify.  Monitor/Clarify means stopping now and then to make sure you understand what you have already read. We continue with leveled reading during our reading groups.

We will continue our read aloud, Boxcar Children (chapter 3 and 4).

SPELLING/PHONICS: Unit 20; We are working on words with soft and hard “c” or “g”.  Example:  circus, crash and drag and cage

WRITING: Students have started their draft on information writing (How-To Books).  They will write two more rough drafts before we start our book in two weeks. J We will start

MATH: We started Unit 5:  Please take some time to look over the units on everydaymathonline.com.  Please continue with making change with money at home.  Example:  The toy cost 68 cents.  If you give the cashier $1.00, how much will your change be?

SCIENCE: Earth Science:  We continue observing different soils.

Celebration of Friendship, Valentine’s Day,  will be on February 13th.  Students bring in cards for every student (26 students) to share. I will send a class list next week. 🙂

If your child comes home with a hershey kiss, make sure you ask, why?  Students receive a hershey kiss when they answer a challenging question in any subject. We refer to it as “kissing our brain”.

Blessings,

Mrs. Vazquez
