A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS

READING:  We are learning how to share our opinions by debating and providing supporting reasons using text evidence from our series.

PHONICS: We are learning about compound words and the words used to construct them. We are also learning how to deconstruct compound words in order to create new compound words.

SPELLING: Spelling tests will be on Monday, May 17. Some students may spend two weeks on a sort.

MATH: We are learning about perimeter (adding the outside measurements of an object) and how to measure longer distances using kilometers and miles.

RELIGION: In Chapter 25, we learn that the Church’s mission is to show Christ’s love to everyone.

WRITER’S WORKSHOP: We continue working on our nonfiction books. Some students have finished their first book and have started working on a compare and contrast nonfiction book.
