Third grade families,

We are working hard and steady in third grade as we enjoy our final months together!

As a reminder, please continue to work with your children on memorizing those poems for the speech contest. We will have our in class contest the week of April 1st.

For service hours, I will be sending home pillows to wash this Friday. Please let me know if you are interested!

Homework this week:

  • IXL Math: J.7, AA.5, FF.10
  • fluency
  • 100 minutes of reading & logged
  • Practice/memorize poem

Important dates:

  • Wednesday, 3/27 is a free ($1) dress day–hobby day! Students can choose a hobby and dress up in a way to represent that chosen hobby!
  • Friday, 3/29 is a full day Friday

Sneak peek to our academic week:

  • math: Our unit 5 test will be this Tuesday. This week we will begin Unit 6 where we will begin to investigate line segments, rays, and lines.
  • reading: We continue with character studies! This week will begin growing theories about the characters in our books by noticing patterns in things that our characters do over and over again.
  • writing: We continue with opinion writing. As a class we decided on a thesis (opinion/main idea) of what our speech is going to address. This week we will work together to create speeches and generating ideas, keeping our audience (the person we will be giving our speech to) in mind!
  • spelling: spelling words can be found in your child’s planner/spellingcity.com. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Friday.
  • religion: This week we wrap up Chapter 9 and dive into Chapter 10, discussing the idea that God created people to share his life.
  • social studies: This week we will learn all about natural resources that our Earth provides for us.

Have a blessed week,

Miss Poindexter
