Third grade families,
Welcome back!! I hope you had a wonderful Easter Break. The kids came back refreshed and ready to work hard as we finish up our third grade year together!
We have a lot of fun events coming up this month, so please keep a lookout for any important dates!
Important dates:
- Thursday, May 2ndour field trip to the Chumash Indian Museum. Please make sure your child comes to school in a SHS polo and jeans, sweater, a sack lunch & plastic water bottle with their names clearly marked.
- Friday, May 3rdis a full day. Please bring a flashlight and/or blanket for our camping day class reward!
- Friday, May 10this jog-a-thon.

- IXL math: CC.10, EE.2, EE.3, J.10
- Fluency
- 100 minutes of reading & logged
Sneak Peek to our week:
Math: this week we wrap up out unit 6 with polyhedrons! We will spend the later part of the week reviewing and getting ready for our test. Our math test is scheduled for Friday.
Reading: This week will learn that readers expect characters to face problems. We will work to notice what the problems characters face and how they react to them. On Friday, our reading work will be done in camping style!
Writing: This week we will work to take stock and set goals in our opinion pieces. Whenever a writers want to get better, it helps to pause, self-assess their writing, and make plans for future work.
Religion: This week we will wrap up chapter 10, all about how God Created People to Share His Life. We will take our religion quiz later this week.
Spelling: We have the same words as the ones we had before we left for break. They can be found in your child’s planner. Spelling tests will be this Friday.
Science: we continue on with the solar system! This week we will spotlight on the first two planets of the solar system, Mercury and Venus.
Social Studies: All about the Chumash Indians!
