Third grade families,

We continue to work hard across all subjects in third grade! It seems as if we really got our classroom routines and expectations down! Starting next week, I am going to begin conferencing with all families! Look out for an email from me regarding scheduling 🙂

Important Dates-

  • Fluency

Sneak Peek to our Academic Week-

Math: This week we will work on lessons 2.6, 2.7, and 2.8. We continue to work with number stories, looking closely at key words that tell us whether we are adding or subtracting. Mid week, we will begin the partial-sums algorithm—this is a different strategy used to solve 2 and 3 digit algorithms.

Reading: We continue to work hard at tackling tricky words in our reading, using all of the decoding strategies in our toolbox! We will begin using textual clues to figure out the meaning of unfamiliar words, too.

Writing: We will work to develop the heart of our story, using great detail to transform our stories! We will also work on paragraphing to support sequencing, dialogue, and elaboration!

Word Work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner and spellingcity.com. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Thursday.

Religion: We continue with Chapter 6-We Believe in God, as we continue to talk about the Apostle’s Creed!

Science: We continue with Unit 1, studying fossil evidence and determining the behavior of animals.

Have a great week!
