Third grade families,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a restful Easter Break. Now that we are back, we have a lot of learning to do these next couple of months!

As a reminder, starting Monday, April 19, school will begin at 8:15a for K-4 grades.

Important Dates

  • Tuesday, April 13: Red family envelopes go home
  • Wednesday, April 14: SHS school showcase! Families are welcomed to tour and take a look at our students’ work from 1:30-2:30p.
  • Friday, April 16: 11:45a dismissal

Sneak Peek of our Academic Week

math: This week we begin unit 6, learning all about line segments, rays, and lines! Then, we will work with parallel and intersecting lines.

reading: We continue on with our Character Study unit as we begin our book clubs! In our book clubs, we will work together to determine the important ideas about the characters in our books, focusing on the problems in the story and finding out how our characters resolve those problems.

writing: We continue on with opinion writing. This week we will begin thinking about our second opinion speech–petitions.

word work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner and on Kids A-Z. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Friday.

religion: This week we will focus on The Seven Sacraments.

social studies/science: Prepping for Earth Day!
