Hello 4th Grade Families! We have lots of exciting things happening this week!
Important Dates:
- Wednesday, March 29: Stations of the Cross – 2pm
- Thursday, March 30: All Jogathon forms due (sent in red family envelopes last week)
- Friday, March 31: JOGATHON! (Free free dress + 12pm Dismissal)
Homework:
- IXL Math: (Remember, the goal is NOT 100 — please encourage students to attempt the skills and to do their best)
- R.16 – Fractions of a Number
- P.1 – Decomposing Fractions
- 20-30 minutes of reading, 5 times a week – 5 Reading Responses (Tuesday-Tuesday)
- This week for their journal responses, students can read nonfiction or fiction books. Please have them use the menus as their guide.
This Week in Class:
- Math: All about fractions! Students are getting familiar with fractions by using pattern blocks to represent pieces of a whole. We are focusing on adding and subtracting fractions this week.
- Writing: Students are choosing topics for their informational reports this week. We will focus on how to narrow down our topics and start researching next week.
- Reading: We continue with our novel study of The Island of the Blue Dolphins.
- Religion: Students have learned about the 1st 3 commandments in depth. This next chapter focuses on how we can grow in our holiness.
- Social Studies: Students will study about what happened after the Mission system era. We will read about Mexico’s War of Independence and how that affected CA.
- Science: Students will create and test out their “sound wave watchers” to finish out our unit on Sound.
