Dear 4th Grade Families,

Happy Tuesday! Our class has been busy putting the final touches on their projects for the Showcase this Friday. Their enthusiasm to keep going and be creative is awesome! We can’t wait for you to see some of the great work we will display on Friday.

Special Note: Please make sure your student has their board in this week so they can be ready for the Showcase on Friday!

Here’s an update of what we are currently learning in class! Don’t forget to check out our most recent episode of the 4th Grade Pod”class” linked below.

  • Wednesday, March 13: Stations of the Cross – 1:50pm
  • Friday, March 15: 2pm Dismissal
  • Friday, March 15: Spring Showcase with Treats and Classroom Tours
  • Math: This week, we dive back into division. Students are learning the Partial Quotients method and are practicing how to interpret the remainders of their problems.
  • Reading: We are close to wrapping up our journey with Karana in the Island of the Blue Dolphins. This week, we are connecting what Karana tells us to the facts of San Nicolas Island. One way we are doing that is by accessing the National Park Services website to learn about the plants and animals that really were and continue to be present on the island!
  • Writing: Students are wrapping up their essays! We will start informational writing soon.
  • Religion: Last week, students created posters to represent the different aspects of worship.
  • Science: Sound! This week, students work on a paper cup telephone and improving its functionality!
  • Social Studies: Students finish and present their CA Mission projects. Next up… Gold Rush!
  • Reading Homework: 5 reading responses
    • Students are encouraged to read 20-30 minutes each night. After reading, students will select a question/task from their reading menu to answer in their journal. 5 responses are to be completed by next Tuesday. Students may read either fiction or non-fiction and choose a corresponding task.
  • Math Homework:
    • St. Patrick’s Day themed Division Color-by-Number

Let’s have a great week,

Ms. Schmaeling
